I had the expedition card that let me explore up to 5 spaces of desert and/or sea terrain in a continuous path. Upon entering my first ruins space with exploration number two it wouldn't let me explore any further. The ruins spaces in question are on sea terrain so I should be able to continue exploring.

I am not able to replay your game because it is not ended yet.
But I try it in the studio, and it works. ( imgur.com/a/kOe2NQ5 )
Perhaps an already fixed bug. It will be available on the next version.
