I selected Phoebe at the start of the game and the UI said "You are Simon". I played the game as if Simon (killer was Simon at one point at which point I knew there was a bug). Game rules were respected as if I was Phoebe (I only tried arresting when Simon and Phoebe happened to be next to each other), and in the replay it shows my character as Phoebe.
So, it was "just" a display information, but had a large impact on my play in the game! -

Your bug has probably been fixed already, or was linked to a temporary failure of BGA service.
In any case, when filling a bug report, make sure to have an explicit title linked to the incident (ex: with error message), so other players can recognize it and vote for it.
