In the translation center, when removing just a space from a translated string, you first get a warning message (Your translation is identical to the previous translation, except for spaces. Are you sure this is correct?), which you have to confirm) and then you get an error message.
The string is still marked light blue (if it is a machine translated string), and you have to click the Confirm button under the string to confirm (a second confirm button).

I can't remeber getting this error message when editing translations. Did you get them in more than one session?
But it might be a special situation here. The translation system has recently been changed so that changes only in spaces don't count as "real" change (in the sense of earning gift points). The gift points are then tributed to the former translator. In this case it was the machine, which might cause this error message.

But I tried translate.google.com, and the same error didn't appear. Strange.

While the inserted spaces in machine translations has been a (small) problem for a long time, the error message when changing just spaces didn't show up until the recent change.
The error message shows up every time I just change a space or two.
Your bug has probably been fixed already, or was linked to a temporary failure of BGA service.
In any case, when filling a bug report, make sure to have an explicit title linked to the incident (ex: with error message), so other players can recognize it and vote for it.
