Nekonyancer*Classified Information* is a quick 2-player game of hidden knowledge, played with a small deck of just *18 cards.* At the beginning of the game, each player is dealt one card horizontally: their *Suitcase.* On each player's turn, they will play a card to gain information about their opponent's Suitcase or protect their own!2maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerThis is our opponent's *Suitcase.* If you scroll down a little bit, you'll find ours.3card-12-back

NekonyancerEach card has a number in the top-left corner that ranges from 1-9. At the bottom, there's a 3-digit *Code* made up of that same number and the two numbers *above* and *below* it. 1 is considered one less than 9, and 9 is one more than 1. In other words, those numbers "wrap around." [green]In this case, our Suitcase's number is *9,* so its code is *8-9-1.*[/green]4card-16-front

NekonyancerAt the end of the game, each player will be left with one card in their hand. If any of the numbers in their last card's code match any of the numbers in their opponent's suitcase's code, [green]they'll win the game![/green]5card-11-front

NekonyancerAt the beginning of the game, each player is dealt a hand of *two* cards. We have *three* right now because each player starts each turn by drawing a card!7card-11-front

Nekonyancer[blue]After drawing a card, we must perform one of the following actions:[/blue] • *Deploy* a card. • *Enlist* a card. • *Encrypt* a card. We'll start by *deploying* a card!8card-11-front

NekonyancerDeploying a card means activating the card's *ability.* You can *hover* over each card to read details. For example, the *Fortune Teller* allows us to choose a number. Our opponent will then have to tell us if their Suitcase's number is within a range of *+/- 2*!9card-2-front

NekonyancerLet's deploy it! *1.* Select the *Fortune Teller.* *2.* Click on *"Deploy"* at the top. *3.* Click on [green]*"4!"*[/green]10card-2-front

Nekonyancer*Great!* Our opponent replied that their suitcase's number is *NOT* within that range. In other words, it isn't *2, 3, 4, 5,* or *6.* If you scroll up, you should be able to see a message from them saying exactly that. NekonyancerWith the [red]*Cypher Wheel!*[/red] It's separated into nine slices, each representing a possible suitcase code. When you click on a slice, it will change colors, allowing you to note if a particular code is impossible. [green]The wheel doesn't work in Tutorial Mode, but it will be fine when you play a real game![/green]2wheel-wrapper

NekonyancerThat's it for our turn! [blue]Now our opponent will play a card...[/blue]3wheel-wrapper

NekonyancerNext turn! We drew another card... and it's another *1.* [red]This is important information![/red] There are only two cards with each number in the game. That means two 1s, two 2s, two 3s, etc, making a total of *18 cards.* Since we've now seen both 1s, there is no way our opponent's Suitcase can be a 1!1card-3-front

NekonyancerNext, let's learn about the *Enlist* action, which lets us use a card for its *Guild* affiliation. Nekonyancer[green]*Guards*[/green] can guard our suitcase. [red]*Assassins*[/red] can assassinate Guards. [blue]*Sentinels*[/blue] are flexible and either assassinate or guard. Let's start by enlisting a [green]*Guard.*[/green]3card-14-front

NekonyancerThis *Neutralize Target* card has a [green]*Guard*[/green] icon, so we can Enlist it as a Guard. *1.* Select *Neutralize Target.* *2.* Click on [green]*Guard*[/green] at the top.4card-14-front

Nekonyancer*Good!* When we Enlist a Guard, the card is placed on the table in front of our Suitcase. It looks like it's face up, but that's just the magic of BGA at work. [red]Our opponent can't see what it is![/red]1card-14-front

Nekonyancer[blue]So what do Guards do?[/blue] First of all, do you remember the *win condition?* At the end of the game, if any of the digits in our opponent's last card's code match any of the digits in our Suitcase's code, they'll win. [red]In this case, if our opponent's last card includes an 8, 9, or 1 in its code, they'll win.[/red]2card-16-front

NekonyancerEach Guard prevents all the digits in its code from being used to win. Our guard protects against *7, 8,* and *9.* Thus, if our opponent's last card has an *8* or a *9* in its code, it won't work! They'll need a *1* to win! Guards are also useful as a *tiebreaker.*3card-14-front

NekonyancerLooks like our opponent has been busy Enlisting his own [green]*Guards!*[/green] Let's Enlist an [red]*Assassin*[/red] to try and assassinate one. We'll simply select a card in our hand (with an Assassin icon, of course) and one of our opponent's Guards. [green](Step 20/42)[/green]1card-8-back

NekonyancerOur opponent will then check to see if any of the digits in the Assassin's code match any of the digits in the Guard's code. If there's a *match,* the assassination is successful, and both cards are discarded. If not, nothing is accomplished, and only the assassin is discarded.2card-18-back

NekonyancerLet's try it! *1.* Select the *"Switch Places"* card. *2.* Click on *"Assassinate"* at the top. *3.* Select the [green]*left Guard.*[/green] *4. [blue]Confirm![/blue]*3card-11-front

Nekonyancer*Success!* Next, we must choose the order in which the Guard and Assassin are discarded. This is important because some cards can utilize the top card in the discard pile. *Select our [red]Assassin,[/red] then our opponent's [green]Guard.[/green] [blue]Confirm![/blue]*1player_name_92143487

NekonyancerOkay, you've learned how to Deploy, Enlist Guards, and Enlist Assassins. Remember that [blue]*Sentinel*[/blue] cards can be Enlisted as either one. There's one last thing I have to show you: the *Encrypt* action.1card-15-front

NekonyancerAt the beginning of the game, BGA put two cards into the [blue]*Encrypted Deck*[/blue] to prevent players from deducing the remaining cards in the game. *Encrypting* a card allows us to add a card to that deck.2card-card-encrypted-deck-fake-top-card-back

NekonyancerIf you play with the basic, default set of cards, you usually won't want to use the Encrypt action. It's the same as discarding a card, but our opponent won't get to see the discarded card. Let's see it in action anyway! *1.* Select the *rightmost* card in our hand. *2.* Click on [red]*"Encrypt"*[/red] at the top.3card-15-front

Nekonyancer[blue]Okay, you've seen all the actions now![/blue] Players will continue playing cards until the *Deck* is exhausted. The small number at the bottom of the deck indicates how many cards remain.1card-card-deck-fake-top-card-back

NekonyancerWhen the deck is exhausted, players will stop drawing cards but will continue to take turns until each player has exactly *one card left.* Then a winner will be determined! NekonyancerOur opponent had one Guard with the code *5-6-7.* Thus, our matching 6 and 7 values were blocked. Our matching 8 value was not blocked. That means we have an [green]*"UNGUARDED MATCH!"*[/green]4scoring-card-4-front

NekonyancerNext, let's look at our opponent. Their last card's code is *7-8-9.* Our Suitcase's code is *8-9-1.* Therefore, they had two matching values (8 and 9).5scoring-card-6-front

NekonyancerWe had one guard with the code *7-8-9,* blocking those values. Thus, our opponent has a *GUARDED MATCH,* which is functionally the same as no match at all. 6scoring-card-14-front

NekonyancerSince we have an *UNGUARDED MATCH* and our opponent has a *GUARDED MATCH,* [green]we win the game![/green]7maintitlebar_content

Nekonyancer[blue]There are four *tied* situations:[/blue] • Unguarded / Unguarded. • Guarded / Guarded. • Guarded / No match. • No match / No match. When there's a tie, BGA will use the number of Guards as a tiebreaker. [green]Whoever has more Guards wins![/green] If both players have the same number of Guards, then the game is a real tie.8maintitlebar_content

Nekonyancer[blue]Just a couple last things to mention![/blue] This tutorial features the default *Citrine* card set. You can toggle the *Ruby* set, the *Emerald* set, or a recommended/random/customizable *mixed* set in the lobby options, creating entirely new gameplay experiences!9maintitlebar_content

NekonyancerYou can also change the *difficulty,* adjusting the number of cards that are encrypted at the beginning of the game. This will shorten the game, making it harder to deduce your opponent's code before the game ends!10maingameview_menuheader
